MR. PUPPY SEZ
The Aries pussycat has an enormous amount of energy, is very alert and tends to have an aggressive personality. When push comes to shove this pet will usually shove, as it dislikes competition.
Although cats age well, nevertheless their bodies go through changes, their joints begin to lose flexibility, eyesight may start to dim, and in general their organs don't function as well, and so they need special care.
The geriatric cat benefits from tonic herbs such as Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica), which is a whole-body tonic. A few of the dried leaves crumbled into wet food does wonders. Try a month of daily doses and then a month of an antioxidant herb such as Basil (Ocimum basilicum), which contains Vitamins A and C to counter an overproduction of free radicals. Basil is one of the keys to anti-aging.
FOR OUR HOOMIN COMPANIONS
The adrenal system is under rulership of Mars, hence, is the guardian of our immune system, the watchman at the gate. It is not a coincidence that this herb also comes under rulership of Mars. Stinging nettle tea made in medicinal strength is nature's powerhouse in restoring and maintaining the vibrancy of our adrenal system - among many other benefits - such as healing damaged tissue and nourishing our kidneys, lungs, intestines, and arteries. This should come as no surprise, as this healing herb is suffused with vitamins and minerals to feed the body, inside and out. Additionally, it makes a healthful rinse for the hair.
A medicinal tea is easily made from either fresh or dried nettle leaves and stems. If you gather the fresh herb do wear gloves, even while snipping the herb into smaller pieces. Place the nettle into a mason jar, pour boiling water to within an inch of the top of the jar, then cover. Let steep at least four hours, then strain and drink throughout the day. My hoomin prepares her tonic in the evening and lets it stand overnight on the counter...sometimes using fresh but more often than not using the dried herb because the best harvesting time is those few precious weeks in Spring.
